Student Van Vs Car Collision – 3 Sent To Hospital

(NORTH GLENGARRY, ON) – The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision in North Glengarry Township.

On May 7, 2025, shortly before 7:30 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road-30 involving a student transportation van and a car in North Glengarry Township.

The initial investigation found that the car collided with the bus. There were two students on the bus at the time. As a precautionary measure the driver of the school bus and students were transported to hospital. The driver of the passenger vehicle was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The SD&G OPP continue to investigate, with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and a Collision Reconstructionist.

Drug Bust – HUSHARD, TSASSIS & LAJOIE

(NORTH GLENGARRY TWP., ON) – Three people have been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in Alexandria.

The investigation began in January.

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by officers from the SD&G Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on Victoria Street West. Officers were assisted at the scene by North Glengarry Bylaw Enforcement and the North Glengarry Fire Services.

Officers seized suspected cocaine and suspected psilocybin, as well as an imitation handgun and items typically associated with drug trafficking. Three people were arrested at the scene.

Lawrence HUSHARD, age 61, Richard LAJOIE, age 71 and Andreas TSASSIS, age 55, all residents of Alexandria, located within North Glengarry Township, have been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

HUSHARD has also been charged with possession of a Schedule 3 substance.

TSASSIS faces additional two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

HUSHARD and LAJOIE have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 17, 2025.

TSASSIS was remanded in custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court again on March 25, 2025.

Natalino PETRINI-WOOLLEY Was Arrested Again

(NORTH GLENGARRY TWP, ON) – A 32-year-old man is facing numerous charges after a single-vehicle collision near Alexandria involving a stolen vehicle.

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded June 22, 2024, just before 1:00 p.m., to the collision on County Road 34 in the Fassifern area. The driver had fled on foot and a firearm was found in the car.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit joined SD&G officers in the search, which also included an OPP remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS). The search continued for the rest of the day but was scaled back when it appeared the male had left the area.

The accused was arrested June 23, 2024. after a resident south of Alexandria contacted police to report a suspicious person.

Natalino PETRINI-WOOLLEY, or North Algona Wilberforce, near Eganville, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Unauthorizes possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – three counts
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Careless driving
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Fail to remain at the scene
  • Failing to properly wear a seatbelt
  • Use a plate not authorized for a vehicle

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 24, 2024.

BARRICADED PERSON INCIDENT IN NORTH GLENGARRY

Individual Arrested

(NORTH GLENGARRY, ON) – The Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one individual following a barricaded person incident in the North Glengarry Township.

On April 7, 2024, shortly before11:30 a.m. officers responded to Wylie Road in the North Glengarry Township, where an individual had made threats toward others and barricaded himself in the residence. Members of the SD&G Detachment, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the scene and the individual was safely taken into custody.

Skyler BELANGER, aged 20 of North Glengarry, was charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault a Peace Officer with a weapon two counts.

There were no injuries and no threat to public safety. There was a significant police presence in the area at the time.

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two motorists with impaired driving after receiving complaints from citizens.

On April 7, 2024, shortly before 3:00 a.m., SD&G officers conducted a traffic stop on William Street, in the South Glengarry Township. Further Investigation led to the driver being arrested.       

Liam SPENCER, aged 19, of South Glengarry, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 23, 2024.

On April 5, 2024, shortly before 3:00 p.m., SD&G officers investigated a possible impaired driver in Maxville, in the North Glengarry Township. Further Investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Melissa GAINES, aged 31, of North Stormont, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on May 8, 2024.

The OPP reminds the public that a 90-day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven-day impoundment of your vehicle accompanies any impaired driving charge.
