Collison Closed Hwy 4 – One Charged

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On March 19, 2024, at 3:47 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision which closed Highway 4 (London Road) for a brief period.

The Huron County OPP along with North Huron Fire Department and Huron County Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle collision which one driver was transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A 53-year-old from Huron County was charged with:

·      Fail to yield from private road

The highway was closed for a couple of hours for the investigation but has since re-opened.

Wingham Robbery – Repeat Offender Scott RYAN Arrested Again

(NORTH HURON, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crimes Unit is investigating a robbery that took place on March 8th, 2024, at a business on Josephine Street in the Township of North Huron (Wingham). 

On Friday, March 8th, 2024, at 6:10 a.m., the Huron County OPP was contacted by a store owner who called to report a robbery that had taken place at approximately 6:00 a.m. One male suspect had entered the store, produced a note, and demanded cash. The suspect appeared to have been carrying a concealed weapon. The employee advised the suspect that there was no cash inside the store. The suspect then left the store and fled on foot.

Investigators were able to later identify the suspect and on March 11th, the suspect was arrested in Wingham and taken into custody.

A search warrant of the suspect’s residence yielded evidence from the robbery.

Scott RYAN, 36 years of age from the Township of North Huron has been charged with the following offences:

–      Robbery with Intent,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation – (seven counts).

The accused was processed at the Huron OPP detachment and held for a bail hearing.

OPP Report Sexual Assaults In Corporation Of North Huron

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On February 15th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Township of North Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had committed criminal acts against their partner dating back as far as 2013 – present.

A 34-year-old individual from North Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Assault – (two counts),

–      Forcible Confinement,

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death,

–      Mischief – Domestic,

–      Sexual Assault,

–      Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition or Prohibited Device – (three counts),

–      Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon – (three counts).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.
