Fatal Collision On Hwy 69

(SUDBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has opened the highway in both directions.

On Monday May 26, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 69, Sudbury.

An 88-year-old-person from Noelville was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three other people were transported to the local hospital by EMS, one person with life-altering injuries and two other people with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team continue to assist.

2 Dead, Amanda MONTEITH-SERGERIE Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged one person in relation to the head-on collision, which resulted in the death of two people.

On January 23, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

A 69-year-old-person from Wawa was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other people were transported by Air ORNGE with serious life-threatening injuries to a local hospital, where a 74-year-old person from Sault Ste. Marie, later succumb to their injuries. Three other people were treated at the scene with minor injuries.

The highway was closed in both directions for just over eight hours during the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Amanda MONTEITH-SERGERIE, 36 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation causing death – two counts
  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm – two counts
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Fail to notify change of address
  • Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life – Child or Spouse
  • Improper muffler – motor vehicle
  • Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 18, 2025, in Sudbury.

KUMAR & Singh Arrested – Details Released

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with alcohol related charges on Friday.

On May 23, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle displaying poor driving behaviour. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle on Highway 10, near Charleston Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. Investigating officers conducted a traffic stop upon the vehicle and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Following the investigation, Sukhpal Singh, 23, of Brampton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Just hours later, on the same day, Caledon OPP officers received a report of a single vehicle collision on The Gore Road, near Mayfield Road, in the Town of Caledon. Shortly after 11:45 p.m., officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Abhinandan KUMAR, 23, of Brampton, was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Possess more than one licence
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 12, 2025, to answer to their charges. The vehicles were also impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licences were suspended for a period of 90 days.

Drivers continue to take chances. It’s simply not worth the risk. Motorists are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

UPDATE: 4 Teenagers & 1 Adult Dead Following Collision

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – A fifth person has died following a multi-vehicle collision in Middlesex County.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Middlesex County and Oxford County detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with fire and emergency medical services, responded to the intersection of Thorndale Road and Cobble Hills Road after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a transport truck that then collided with a second SUV.

The occupants in the first SUV, A 33-year-old male, was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Two 17-year-old females and a 16-year-old female were pronounced deceased on scene. The fifth passenger, a 16-year-old female, was airlifted by Ornge to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The driver and passenger of the second SUV and the driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries.

Members of the Middlesex County OPP and OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team continue to investigate the collision.

Thorndale Road and Cobbles Hills Road were closed for several hours to allow for investigation and have since been reopened.

Investigators are asking members of the public that may have been in the area at the time of the incident to check their dash camera footage in the event they captured the event, or the vehicles involved.

Drug Bust, Stolen Property Recovered – Names Released

(MIDLAND, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant with the assistance members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and uniform members at a Seventh Street near Ottawa Street, Midland, residential address at approximately 4:45 a.m. May 23, 2025.

OPP Officers entered the residential address at approximately 4:45 a.m. May 23, 2025, arresting six individuals inside the home and during the following search located a stolen 2022 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, stolen licence plates, a number of edged weapons, and a quantity of Methamphetamine, Crack Cocaine.

Two individuals were released at the scene another was released after investigation and three individuals were charged criminally as follows;

(1) Gerrit John GABEL 33 years of Midland with

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

(2) Alexander WOZNICA 33 years of Midland with

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

And further with

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle – Perform stunt

Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Accused persons 1-2 have been released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

(3) Natasha PRINCE 26 years of Barrie was arrested on a outstanding warrant for Failure to Attend Court on related charges and held for a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Shawn MILLER Facing Numerous Charges

(PAPINEAU-CAMERON, ON) – A person wanted in connection with several criminal offences committed in December 2024 has been arrested by the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Papineau-Cameron Township.

With the assistance of specialized OPP units – including the North Bay Criminal Investigation Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS), Northeast Regional Support Team, and Critical Incident Command (CIC) – officers executed a warrant and arrested the individual without incident.

Shawn MILLER, 52 years-of-age of Mattawa, is facing the following charges:

·        Pointing a firearm

·        Reckless discharge of a firearm

·        Possess firearm contrary to prohibition order – three counts

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Careless storage of firearm

·        Assault with a weapon – spousal

·        Assault – spousal – two counts

·        Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal

·        Uttering threats – damage or injure animal

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Failure to comply with release order – two counts

·        Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

Satnam SINGH Was Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(COCHRANE, ON) – A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver has been charged after police discovered the individual was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code during a traffic stop south of Cochrane.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 for a speeding violation. During the investigation, officers determined the driver was subject to three active criminal driving prohibitions. Officers also identified minor mechanical defects with the vehicle.

As a result, Satnam SINGH, 25 years-of-age from Edmonton, AB, was charged with:

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code – three counts

·        Speeding – 108 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone

·        Improperly drive commercial motor vehicle with a minor defect in it – two counts

·        Fail to enter defect in daily inspection report – two counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 17, 2025, in Cochrane. The tractor portion of the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Indignity To Dead Body – Shannon BROOKS Arrested Again

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Members of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking the public’s assistance in a death investigation in the City of Quinte West.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP, Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, Quinte West Fire and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services attended a residence on Westmount Court, where a 49-year-old male from Quinte West was located deceased.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, following a lengthy investigation, Shannon BROOKS, 36 years old of Quinte West, was arrested with the assistance of the Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Unit, and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Indignity to dead body – section 182(b)
  • Theft of credit card – section 342(1)(a)
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – section 354(1)(a)
  • Possession of a credit card – section 342(1)(c)

In relation to separate investigations, the accused was also charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while prohibited – section 320.18 (1)(a)
  • Fail to comply with probation order – section 733.1(1) – three counts

The investigation continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Drug Bust – 3 Arrested

(BANCROFT, ON) – Three people face trafficking charges after a drug seizure in Faraday Township.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit began an investigation earlier this spring.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Community Street Crime Unit and Bancroft OPP members, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Highway 28 South in Faraday Township.

Officers seized:

  • Almost 20 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Over 160 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Over 20 grams of suspected heroin
  • Suspected crystal methamphetamine
  • Over 20 grams of suspected MDMA
  • Suspected Psilocybin
  • 20 suspected methamphetamine (speed) pills
  • Over 300 suspected hydromorphone pills,
  • 50 suspected oxycodone pills
  • Over 20 suspected morphine pills
  • Suspected lorazepam pills
  • Over $900 in cash
  • 1 cell phone
  • 3 scales

Roseanne HARRIS of Faraday Township, age 46, Jordan MORIN of Peterborough, age 28, and Erica OLMSTEAD of Hastings Highlands, age 30 have each been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 9 counts
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Additionally, HARRIS was charged with two counts of breach of a release order and OLMSTEAD was charged with breach of a probation order.

All three accused were remanded into custody. OLMSTEAD and MORIN have a court date in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 27, 2025, while HARRIS has a court date of May 29, 2025.

Stephen Patrick JOLICOEUR Was Arrested

(MIDLAND, ON) – An officer of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a significant quantity of a substance believed to be Crack Cocaine from the driver of a parked vehicle in a Fifth Street, Midland driveway while patrolling the neighborhood.

The officer was patrolling in the area conducting follow up to an outstanding investigation in the area when the parked vehicle and driver was observed and after speaking to the driver a number of prohibited weapons were located in the vehicle which led to the officer locating a quantity of an illegal substance which was also seized from inside the vehicle.

Charged in relation to this investigation is Stephen Patrick JOLICOEUR 44 years of Midland with the following offence contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act as follows.

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

and further with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition (three counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a future date.
