(PICTON, ON) – An individual’s attempt to avoid a RIDE program in Picton didn’t keep OPP officers from making an arrest for impaired operation.
On Monday, May 26, 2025, just before midnight, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment were conducting a RIDE program on Bridge Street when they saw an e-bike turn in an apparent attempt to avoid the RIDE. Officers located the e-bike in the area, along with the operator and a passenger.
An approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized, and the operator was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Jordan LEWIS, age 29 of no fixed address, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving while under suspension
- Having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 11, 2025, on these charges. The accused was held in custody due to other outstanding warrants elsewhere in the region.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for an additional 90 days and the e-bike was impounded for seven days.
