29 Year Old Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop just before midnight on Wednesday January 31st, 2024. 

On January 31st, just prior to midnight, Huron County OPP officers observed a vehicle exit a business in the Municipality of Huron East, Seaforth. The officer observed an orange pilon being dragged under a wheel of the vehicle. The vehicle continued eastbound on Goderich Street East and was stopped by police.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician.

Jacob ASHBY, 29 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 4th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

42 Year Old From Municipality/Corporation Of Brockton Arrested

(WALKERTON, ON) – On February 5, 2023, at 10:59 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along McNab Street in Walkerton.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Jammie WALKER, 42-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with:

  • Operate over 80 milligrams

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on March 20, 2024, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – PORTER

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron County Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) and members of the Huron OPP detachment resulted in the arrest of a wanted individual and seizure of illegal drugs, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $3,700.

On Thursday, February 1st, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a wanted individual was observed on foot in the Municipality of Huron East, Vanastra. Police arrested the wanted male and a subsequent search of the accused revealed suspected fentanyl and other items commonly used in drug trafficking including a digital scale, packaging material, and a cellular phone.

The estimated value of the seized drugs is $3.485.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $300.

Cameron PORTER, 29 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid,
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – (two counts).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Two Found Dead – Names Released

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Elgin County (St. Thomas) Detachment have identified the two deceased individuals from an ongoing death investigation in the Municipality of Central Elgin.

On January 31, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., emergency services, including members of the Elgin County OPP, responded to a residence on Roberts Line after the discovery of two deceased individuals.

The individuals are now identified as 38-year-old Tanya WIEBE of the Township of Malahide and 34-year-old Kyle SAVAGE of the Municipality of Central Elgin.

The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit continues the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP West Region Criminal Operations and OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

27 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving


(HURON EAST, ON) – 
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a single motor vehicle collision into a farm field on the early evening hours of Tuesday January 30th, 2024. 

On January 30th, just after 9:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle with damage in a farm field located on Morrison Line near Short Horn Road in the Municipality of Huron East.

Police attended the scene shortly after and spoke to the driver. Police determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician.

MacKenzie ELSON, 27 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 26th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Wingham Hit & Run – Shannon KUCAN Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Township of North Huron resident with impaired driving offences following a fail-to-remain collision in North Huron, Wingham on January 28th, 2024. 

At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th, Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a collision on Minnie Street in Wingham. Police attended and located a damaged parked vehicle that had been hit by a second vehicle that failed to remain at the scene. Officers located a damaged vehicle nearby that matched the description provided to police. The suspected driver was located and subsequently arrested for impaired operation.

The accused was transported by police to obtain breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over two times the legal limit.

Shannon KUCAN, 43 years-of-age from North Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was additionally charged with Failing to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 4th, 2024.

“Contractor” Zack BALDWIN Arrested – Police Fear More Victims

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with eleven counts of Fraud following a lengthy investigation involving multiple victims across Huron County. 

Huron County OPP received numerous complaints in 2022 and 2023 involving the same individual who claimed to operate construction, renovation, and landscaping businesses. The complainants, all from Huron County, reside in Central Huron, North Huron, Goderich, South Huron, and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. All reported similar experiences where monetary deposits were provided in advance to the suspect who promised certain work to be completed by a certain deadline. The suspect would then either perform no work at all, or very little work in return, then cease communication with the customers. Total monetary losses reported by the complainants in this investigation exceeds $74,000.

Police were able to identify the suspect and they were subsequently arrested on February 4th, 2024. The accused was formally charged and processed at the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton.

Zack BALDWIN, 30 years of age from Goderich has been charged with:

–      Fraud Under $5,000 – (five counts),

–      Fraud Over $5,000 – (six counts).

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 11th, 2024.

CHAMBERS Arrested Again

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Huron resident with Prohibited Driving offences, along with several other offences following an observation by police on January 26th, 2024. 

On Friday afternoon, January 26th just after 3:00 p.m., Huron County OPP were patrolling in the Township of North Huron, Wingham when they observed a suspected prohibited driver operating a vehicle on Josephine Street.

The investigating officer confirmed that the male driver was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code and suspended from driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and taken into custody.

Nathan CHAMBERS, 26 years of age from North Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Prohibited – (six counts),

–      Fail to Comply with Probation – (two counts).

The accused was additionally charged with “Driving while under Suspension” found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 8th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

37 Year Old From Listowel Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Listowel resident with impaired driving in the Municipality of North Perth.

On Saturday, January 27, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., Perth County OPP were alerted to a possible impaired driver in Listowel. 

Amadi Kabura, 37, of Listowel, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 4th, 2024, to answer to the charges.

BELL Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On January 28, 2024, at 12:13 a.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Highway 9, in the hamlet of Bervie, when a vehicle stopped. Officers determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Brandon BELL, 27-years-old, from Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Operate over 80 milligrams
  • Drive with Open Container of Liquor
  • Improper Muffler
  • Unauthorized License Plates
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on March 13, 2024, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
