Another Pedestrian Run Down

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in North Dumfries Township.

On January 2, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision on Wrigley Road near Dumfries Road.

A pedestrian was struck from behind by a vehicle heading east on Wrigley Road as she jogged east on the east side of the road. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

The pedestrian, a 22-year-old female, was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The involved vehicle is believed to be a dark-coloured SUV.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit.

Another Pedestrian Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a collision in Kitchener involving a pedestrian.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., emergency services responded to the area of Frederick Street and Bruce Street regarding a collision.

A 58-year-old Kitchener female was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection.

The female was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

16 Year Old Pedestrian Run Down – Suspect At Large

On December 23rd, 2024, at 4:33pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded alongside Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics and members of the St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services for a motor vehicle collision on Carlton Street between Roehampton Avenue and Grantham Avenue, in the City of St. Catharines.

Upon arrival, officers determined a collision occurred involving a white Kia Soul and a pedestrian who was walking west on the Carlton Street sidewalk.  The pedestrian, a 16 year old male resident of the City of St. Catharines was assessed at the scene and transported by paramedics to an out-of-region trauma centre for medical care.  The pedestrian remains in hospital at this time.  The Kia Soul failed to remain at the scene.  It was last observed travelling west on Carlton Street.  Witnesses have come forward and indicated to investigators that the Kia Soul was seen in the area prior to the collision. 

Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation.  They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.

Witnesses to the collision, motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, and residents with surveillance capabilities that captures the area surrounding the collision are asked to review their footage and contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, badge 1009588 or by email at david.sinclair@niagarapolice.ca with any relevant information.

Another Pedestrian Struck

 (NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – One individual has been taken to hospital after a collision between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian in Norfolk County.

On Monday December 23, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members from the Norfolk County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from Oxford OPP, Norfolk County Paramedic Services and Norfolk County Fire Department responded to a collision on Bell Mill Sideroad.

A passenger vehicle and a pedestrian collided. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The injuries are reported to be serious but non-life-threatening.

Bell Mill Sideroad was closed for several hours between Rokeby Sideroad and Goshen Road but has since reopened.

Another Pedestrian Struck

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m., police responded to a Personal Injury Collision in the Lawrence Avenue East and Don Mills Road area.

It is alleged that;

  • a 34-year-old female was operating a silver Toyota sedan westbound on Lawrence Avenue East
  • a 50-year-old male pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side on the west crosswalk on Lawrence Avenue East
  • the driver of the Toyota Sedan struck the pedestrian
  • the male pedestrian was transported to a local trauma centre in life-threatening condition
  • the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Another Pedestrian Struck

(MIDLAND, ON) –  A report near the noon hour on December 18, 2024, to the OPP Communication Center of an elderly pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on King Street sent officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to investigate.

Supported by members of the Midland Fire Service, County of Simcoe Paramedic Service the 80 year old female Midland resident was triaged and transported to an area hospital by paramedics and then onward to a Toronto trauma hospital for treatment of serious injuries suffered in the crash.

The pedestrian was struck while crossing King Street between McMurtry Road and Robert Street at approximately 12:09 p.m. by a white Chevrolet being operated by a 74 year old male of Midland.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues under the direction of OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collison Investigators.

Thanks to the Town of Midland Roads Department in helping to maintain the road closure on King Street that was lifted shortly after 5:00 p.m.

16 Year Old Pedestrain Suffers Life Threatening Injuries

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 7:15 a.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision in the Blakemanor Road and Markham Road area.

It is reported that:

  • an 84-year-old man was driving a gray 2012 Ford pick-up truck northbound on Markham Road
  • a 16-year-old girl was struck by the truck as she crossed Markham Road from the eastside to the westside of the street
  • the girl was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries
  • the driver remained on scene

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, business and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Child Pedestrain Suffers Life Threatening Injuries #PedestrianLivesMatter

LONDON, ON (December 16, 2024) – A young boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motor vehicle collision late this afternoon in the south end of the city.

Shortly before 4 p.m., on Monday, December 16, 2024, emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Longwoods and Murray roads involving a pedestrian.

A young child was transported to hospital by paramedic services with life-threatening injuries.

All involved parties remained at the scene.

Longwoods Road was closed between Colonel Talbot and Kilbourne roads for a period of time.

The investigation has been reassigned to the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit and is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who may have dash-cam footage or video surveillance in the Longwoods Road near Murray Road between 3:45 – 4:05 p.m., or information that can assist with the investigation, to contact police. 

The investigation is in its early stages, and more information will be released as appropriate

Police Continue to Investigate Pedestrian Collision in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating a pedestrian collision in Cambridge.

On December 14, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a SUV and a pedestrian at the intersection of Ainslie Street North and Main Street.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 82-year-old female reported no physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Killed In Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One person has died following a motor vehicle collision in Haldimand County.

On November 25, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Haldimand Fire and Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Rainham Road, just east of Selkirk, where a pedestrian had been struck on the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 74-year-old from Selkirk was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting with the investigation.

Rainham Road was closed between Haldimand Road 12 and Isabella Street for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation but has since reopened.
