Many of you probably remember North Huron Council bought the St.
Paul’s manse property. Council refused to explain why they
bought the property, despite Public scrutiny in Chambers.
Bernie Bailey literally yelled I DON’T HAVE TO!” when asked for
council to offer a reason for buying the property. It appears
there was no plan for the property

At tonight’s meeting at the Stove Top Lounge at the Complex, extra tables and chairs had to be set up to accommodate the crowd that showed up in support of a local Farmer’s Market. An extra row of seating was also required due to the mass turnout.
Initially it was suggested that it could take a year before a Farmer’s Market would be up and going. Several people in attendance voiced a desire to get the Market going much sooner, this season if feasible. Several people volunteered to join the Steering Committee to help make sure this project comes to fruition.
Several locations were discussed for the Market, one was the $1,000,000 parking lot at the Complex, another involved a downtown location which would require the use of several parking lots. Both options will be investigated, but there seemed to be a preference for the Complex due to it’s highly visible location near the intersection of 86 & 4 highways. Another advantage of the parking lot at the Complex is that North Huron’s current insurance coverage might cover the Market if it is on Municipal property. This would greatly reduce the overhead for the Market, increasing the chances of success.
The Steering Committee’s next meeting date will be announced in the coming days. Hopefully this Steering Committee will be aggressive and organized enough to get the Farmer’s Market going this season.
